Guwahati: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat who is on a two day visit to Assam said that the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) have nothing to do with the Hindu-Muslim divide.
Bhagwat added that Muslims residing in India will face no loss due to the citizenship law and that minorities have been taken care of in the country.
“After independence, the first prime minister of the country had said that minorities will be taken care of, and that has been done so far. We will continue to do so. No Muslim will face any loss due to CAA,” Bhagwat said after launching a book here.
The book titled “Citizenship debate over NRC and CAA-Assam and the Politics of History” is authored by Gauhati University professor and eminent scholar Nani Gopal Mahanta.
Adding on, Bhagwat said that the citizenship law will provide protection to the persecuted minorities in the neighbouring countries – namely, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
