11 new Japanese Encephalitis cases reported in Assam, tally rises to 326
The standard operating procedures and guidelines of the state's National Health Mission are being followed by all the districts for detection, management, and referral of Japanese Encephalitis cases.

Digital Desk: As many as 11 new cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) were reported in Assam, taking the tally of cases to 326 in the state.

Karbi Anglong had three new cases of the total number of reported cases, while the Biswanath, Chirang, and Kamrup districts each reported two cases, and one each in West Karbi Anglong and Sonitpur.

The state's death toll remained at 52 due to the lack of any fresh reports of any deaths.

The NH has released a set of SOP to address the situation as fresh cases increase.

It should be noted that mosquito bites are the usual means of transmission of the viral brain infection known as Japanese encephalitis.

The virus is usually found in pigs and birds.  If mosquitoes bite sick animals, the disease is transmitted to the mosquitoes, which then bite humans and spread it to humans.
