    200 hectares of Assam land has been reclaimed from Mizoram encroachers

    Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told in an assembly earlier that nearly 1800 hectares of Assam land have been encroached by the people of Mizoram, the land spread across three districts of Assam. Out of which 1000 hectares have been encroached by the miscreants in Hailakandi district, 400 hectares in Cachar, and 377.58 hectares in karimganj. 





    Recently, Assam has reclaimed 200 hectares of land in Inner Line Reserve Forest from the encroachers of Mizoram, Assam Government informed the state assembly. AIUDF MLA Suzam Uddin Laskar questioned about the same encroachers and in reply, Atul Bora, Border Area Development Minister said that the Forest Department association with the Assam Police cleared 200 hectares of land inside Inner Line Reserve Forest from the encroachers. For a long time now, 1000 hectares of Inner Line Reserve Forest, Hailakandi District have been encroached by the people of Mizoram, Bora added. The Miscreants from Mizoram set ablaze 27 houses at Jalnacherra village in Hailakandi district of Assam on February 9, affecting 20 indigenous families, Bora.





    Assam shares seven borders with different states and two long international borders. Recently a clash happened between the police forces of Assam and Mizoram on the disputed border area in Cachar district on July 26, left seven Assam Police personnel and a civilian dead and over 50 others injured.
