Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Monday that 27 individuals had been arrested for promoting anti-national remarks amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, that claimed the lives of 27 civilians.
Digital Desk: A total of 27 individuals were arrested from different places across Assam for posting pro-Pakistan and anti-Indian slogans following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Monday that 27 individuals had been arrested for promoting anti-national remarks amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, that claimed the lives of 27 civilians.
Taking to X, CM Sarma said on Monday, April 28, that three individuals were arrested from Kokrajhar, Sribhumi, and Tamulpur for their anti-national remarks on the Pahalgam attack. The three arrested individuals were identified as Dark King, Abdul Mukit, and Tahib Ali.
Among the arrested individuals, Assam police have arrested AIUDF MLA of Dhing constituency, Aminul Islam and District Secretary of the Satra Mukti Sangram Parishad of Biswanath, Anil Bania.
Chief Minister Sarma on Saturday issued a strict warning to the individuals found posting anti-national and pro-Pakistani sentiments, directly or indirectly. He said that individuals found guilty would be booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
The crackdown follows the horrific Pahalgam terror attack where terrorists opened fire on tourists and killed 27 individuals.
