Digital Desk: Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and pride of Assam, boxer Lovlina Borgohain is set to launch her academy, the Lovlina Boxing Academy in Guwahati on June 3.
The boxing academy will be inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.
According to a release from IOS Sports and Entertainment, Lovlina is establishing the boxing academy to prepare a future generation of medal-winning boxers from the region.
Sharing her perspective on the academy, Lovlina said that the academy is more than just a training facility.
She added that it is a dream realised and a promise kept to herself and to the countless young boys and girls in Assam who dream of stepping into the ring.
She further said that she desires to create a nurturing environment where aspiring athletes not only learn the art of boxing but also develop the resilience, discipline, and unwavering spirit needed to succeed.
Her historic step will mark the development of sports infrastructure in the northeast region of India.
