    365 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths and 465 recoveries recorded in Assam in 24 hours

    GUWAHATI: At least 465 more people recovered from COVID-19 infection in Assam over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 5.86 lakh.





    The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 98.18 per cent.





    On the other hand, 365 more people tested positive for COVID-19 during the period, pushing the tally to 5.97 lakh. The positivity rate now stands at 0.65 per cent.





    Assam recorded two more COVID-19 deaths during the period, taking the death toll to 5,790.





    Of the new cases, Kamrup(M) reported 97 cases, followed by Jorhat 32, Golaghat 27 and Barpeta 21.





    The deaths were reported from Jorhat and Nagaon districts. The current death rate is 0.97 per cent.





    The state currently has 3,716 active COVID-19 cases.





    The new cases were detected out of the 55,861 tests conducted during the day. The cumulative total of COVID-19 tests conducted in Assam so far is 2.29 crore.





    On the other hand, over 2.18 crore people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far.

    While 1.73 crore people have received the first dose, 45.31 lakh of them have received both the doses of the vaccine.





    Meanwhile, state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds to the service of the patients at Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Silchar during the day.





    The chief minister also inspected the progress of construction of the 500-bedded hospital at the premises of the hospital.
