    7 Prisoners Escape from Arunachal Jail after Throwing Chilli and Pepper Powder at Guards

    Itanagar: Seven under trial prisoners escape from East Siang District jail in Arunachal Pradesh after throwing a mixture of chilli and Pepper powder and salt in the eyes of jail guards as per the reports.





    The prisoner’s escape when the jail lock-up was opened for serving dinner to the inmates.





    Inspector-General of Police Chukhu Apa said, “Seven of the prisoners suddenly attacked the guards by throwing chilli and pepper powder and salt in their eyes.”





    Five guards suffered injuries in the attack and one of them was badly injured on the head, possibly hit by the heavy lock of the cell; the prisoners also snatched away the mobile phone before escaping added Apa.





    An FIR has been lodged against the seven prisoners and the police have also launched a manhunt to catch the prisoners.





    Moreover, the personnel of district police and India Reserve Battalion are conducting search operations to capture them and all possible exit points were cordoned off as per the report.





    Pasighat Deputy Superintendent of Police Tapang Tatak said, “The fugitives are likely to be re-arrested soon as it is difficult for them to flee from the town because of the daily curfew from 3 pm to 5 am in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.”
