Digital Desk: In a tragic incident that occurred in the Goreswar town of Assam on Sunday, a seven-year-old child was trampled to death.

This comes amid increasing reports of human-elephant conflict in Assam, which frequently results in fatalities.

According to preliminary accounts, a second little girl was injured as wild elephants rampaged in Goreswar in Assam's Baksa district.

The Goreswar resident Chandra Daimary's home was attacked by wild tuskers, according to information received. The elephants stomped his daughter, who was seven years old, to death as they left his house in a pile of rubble.

The deceased and injured children were both Chandra Daimary's daughters. The second daughter was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati in critical condition after suffering severe injuries during the elephant attack.

It should be mentioned that Assam has seen a sharp increase in human-animal conflict due to habitat destruction.

In the morning, there were reports that a herd of wild elephants attacked a village in Lakshipur, Goalpara, Assam, and caused extensive damage.

According to reports, the herd of elephants has been wreaking havoc in the village for the past eleven days by eating all the crops and damaging the locals' paddy fields.

The forest department reportedly failed to drive away the elephant herd away despite several complaints.

To be clear, this is not the first instance that wild tuskers have gotten into difficulty and harmed homes. Similar problems were experienced in January in Assam's Goalpara district by a herd of about 50 wild tuskers.

A herd of perhaps 40–50 wild elephants came from the forest in Agia Dwarka's Kesuridubi in the Goalpara region, according to sources.

At least one house was destroyed by the giant herd. Also, it ruined the village's paddy harvests.
