    Digital Desk: The Superintendent of Taxes of Karbi Anglong district was apprehended by the Assam Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) about the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scams, reports emerged on Friday.

    Wahida Begum is the Superintendent of Taxes who was taken into custody. She was taken from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax cum Superintendent of Taxes in Diphu, Karbi Anglong, early today, according to sources.

    Wahida reportedly was a candidate for the APSC exam in 2014. 

    She was allegedly appointed for the job via deceitful means, working together with the prime arrest ACS official, Rakesh Das.

    Wahida is expected to be produced by tonight to the Guwahati Crime Investigation Department (CID) office, according to reports. 

    It should be noted that the scheme has resulted in the arrests of Sukanya Das, Rakesh Das, Shahjahan Sarkar, and Aishwarya Jeevan Baruah thus far. With Wahida Begum's apprehension, there are now five people detained in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam.

    Rakesh Das, an ACS officer who was arrested, was placed under four days of detention by the SIT on Thursday. On November 29, Das, an Assistant Employment Officer, was taken into custody about the APSC recruiting scam.
