Digital Desk: An abandoned newborn baby was rescued early this morning in Jorhat, Assam. According to reports, locals rescued the newborn after hearing sobbing amid the field.

The incident took place near Seuj Nagar of the Kakatigaon locality under the Jorhat District of Assam.

Meanwhile, the baby was admitted to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) for medication.

Surprisingly, a similar incident was reported earlier this year in August, involving a young couple from the Jorhat area of Assam who reportedly gave their newborn baby to an unidentified adolescent before making a hasty escape.

Sources claim that the couple approached a 17-year-old boy they saw on the road near Baghchung in the Lichubari district and gave him the infant in an attempt to run away with their child. The teenager was left stunned as they quickly left the area.

The infant rushed home along with the baby not knowing what to do, and narrated the incident to his mother. Both then reached a nearby hospital to get the baby checked, however, they were referred to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).

The 17-year-old children said that both of them requested him nonchalantly to hold the infant and that after he did, they promptly left the area and ignored his calls.

The community is deeply shocked by the occurrence. The incident has been reported to the local police.
