Digital Desk: Graffiti artist Neelim Mahanta has recreated the city's horrible hit-and-run disaster from last year that shook the entire state on the walls of a newly completed overpass in Dispur, Guwahati. He drew the art to pay tribute to the innocent soul who lost his life due to reckless driving by model Rajkanya Baruah.
Joseph Marak, a 55-year-old Meghalaya labourer who was one of nine PWD personnel mowed down by Assam fashion model Rajkanya Baruah on October 2, 2021, received a suitable homage from the artist.
Joseph Marak was severely hurt and lost both of his legs in an accident after being hit by the car driven by alleged model Rajkanya Baruah. On November, Joseph Marak passed away at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), where he was undergoing treatment.
Joseph, an inhabitant of the Nagal region of Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district, worked for the Public Work Department as an adhoc labourer (PWD).
Rajkanya Baruah was allegedly driving home inebriated after attending a party in a city-based hotel on October 2, and she allegedly wounded nine PWD labourers in the Rukminigaon area of Guwahati.
Taking to social media, the graffiti artist Mahanta wrote the message, "This is the story of Joseph Marks, it could be you ,me or anyone tomorrow.. so please drive safe, your carelessness may hurt many innocents…"
