Digital Desk: Eleven government officials have been suspended in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-jobs scam. The suspended officials, including those under the ACS and APS categories, are Kalyan Kumar Das, Nandini Kakati, Faruk Ahmed, Dipankar Lahkar Dutta, Nitumoni Das, Rumir Timungpi, Kul Pradip Bhattacharya, Nilanjan Gogoi, Analjyoti Das, Shahjahan Sarkar, and Aishwarya Jivan Barua.

These officials allegedly benefited from anomalies and malpractices orchestrated by the APSC during competitive exams held in 2013, leading to their suspension. Earlier today, four Assam Civil Services (ACS) officials were also suspended. They are Akashi Duwarah, Additional District Commissioner of Jorhat; Dhrubajyoti Hatibaruah, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam, Indigenous and Tribal Faith & Culture Department; Hitesh Mazumdar, Additional District Commissioner of South Salmara, Mankachar; and Dhiraj Kumar Jain, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam, Election Department & Joint CEO.

With this, the total number of officers suspended during the course of the day stands at 15.

The latest wave of suspensions follows an intensified government probe into the APSC cash-for-jobs scam. The investigation has gained momentum, resulting in the detention and interrogation of several officers implicated in the scandal. The government's swift action underscores its commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process within the public service sector. As the probe continues, more revelations are expected, shedding light on the extent of the corruption and its impact on the state's administrative apparatus.
