Assam: BJP president unfurls Tricolor upside down at BJP HQ in Guwahati

Digital Desk: In a major goof-up, Bhabesh Kalita, the party president of the Assam unit, unfurled the national flag in an inverted manner at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday.

While the nation is commemorating the 77th anniversary of Independence Day by hoisting the tricolor at residences, workplaces, and other locations, BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita raised the flag without knowing it was upside down.

However, later it was fixed after they noticed that it had been hoisted in an inverted manner.

Speaking to reporters, Kalita said, "The flag was set upside down, but the workers who were placing it for hoisting were unaware of this. This is why, it was unfurled in an inverted manner without our knowledge."

Many people have criticized him for hoisting the flag inverted on this day because the BJP-led government started the "Har Ghar Tiranga" to inspire patriotism and raise awareness of our national flag, sparking controversy over the occurrence.

As for the dos and don'ts of hoisting the national flag, it is important to remember that the saffron portion of the flag should fly high, therefore the person hoisting the flag must make sure it is not raised in an improper manner.
