Desk Desk: A fresh explosion rattled Assam's security landscape as an incident near the Lichubari Military Camp in Jorhat shook the area, just days following a grenade blast in the neighboring Sivasagar district.

Reports emerging on Thursday indicated a loud explosion near the military camp, sparking chaos in the vicinity. Authorities swiftly closed the main gate of the Lichubari Military Camp as a precautionary measure in response to the incident.

While law enforcement officers rushed to the scene promptly, initial reports suggested no human casualties or injuries resulting from the explosion. However, an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Notably, the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has purportedly claimed responsibility for the blast. However, concrete evidence supporting this claim is currently unavailable. According to sources, two individuals on motorcycles, suspected to be ULFA-I members, allegedly hurled a grenade at the army camp.

This occurrence marks the latest in a series of recent explosions in the region. Previous incidents on November 22 and December 9 included a grenade explosion outside an Army camp in Tinsukia district and another at the 149 CRPF in Sivasagar district, respectively. ULFA-I had reportedly claimed responsibility for these incidents.

The developments have heightened concerns over security in Assam, prompting intensified efforts by authorities to delve into the motives and perpetrators behind these targeted attacks.
