    Assam: CID to Probe Junmoni Rabha’s Death Case
    DGP Singh claims that on May 15, the day before she passed away, a complaint was filed at the North Lakhimpur Police Station in which Junmoni Rabha was mentioned as an accused.

    Digital Desk: Sub-Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha's death case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police. On Tuesday, GP Singh, the director general of police in Assam, gave notice of this.

    DGP Singh claims that on May 15, the day before she passed away, a complaint was filed at the North Lakhimpur Police Station in which Junmoni Rabha was mentioned as an accused. According to GP Singh, the CID will now look into both incidents, including the FIR filed against Rabha and her unfortunate demise.

    Taking to Twitter, GP Singh wrote, “Ref death of SI Junmoni Rabha on May 16th 2023 - FIR Nu 0183/2023 was registered on May 15th 2023 at North Lakhimpur PS u/s 120-B, 395,397,342,387 in which name of SI Junmoni Rabha was mentioned as an accused. @lakhimpurpolice and @nagaonpolice took lawful action pursuant to registration of Crime. In the meantime, in the wee hours of May 16th 2023, information was received about death of SI Junmoni Rabha in a road accident. In wake of request of a fair probe from various sections of society into FIR Nu 0183/2023 and death of SI Junmoni Rabha, it has been decided to transfer investigation to CID Assam."

    On Monday night, a road accident near Kaliabor in Assam's Nagaon district claimed the life of Junmoni Rabha, who was involved in several controversies. Near Sarubhagia village on National Highway 37, vehicle in which Rabha was travelling in is said to have collided with an oncoming container truck with the registration number "UP 78UT 4518." According to sources, the collision's massive force caused the car to be completely crushed. 

    Rabha, a SI at the Morakolong police station in Nagaon, made headlines last year for a number of incidents she was involved in, including corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating, for which she was also arrested. A session court eventually granted her bail.
