Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma kicks off poll campaign in Majuli through mega cycle rally

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has set the wheels in motion for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) electoral campaign ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. 

The campaign commenced through a mega cycle rally in Majuli on Monday. Surrounded by a fervent crowd of supporters and party members, the Chief Minister led the rally, with scores of others joining him on bicycles.

Expressing his optimism about the electoral prospects, Sarma asserted BJP's confidence in securing a significant number of seats in the upcoming polls, scheduled to commence on April 19. The enthusiasm surrounding the campaign was palpable, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah slated to join the electoral fray with rallies planned in Assam on April 6.

Sarma divulged to reporters at the BJP state headquarters that candidates have already embarked on rigorous campaigning efforts in their respective constituencies, conducting multiple meetings daily. He stressed the importance of socio-economic surveys conducted by booth committees to ensure inclusivity in government schemes, pledging to address any discrepancies post-elections.

Addressing concerns about the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Sarma acknowledged the need for resolving certain issues, indicating a post-election focus on the matter. With the BJP's campaign gaining momentum, the political landscape in Assam braces itself for a dynamic electoral contest, poised to shape the state's future trajectory.
