Digital Desk: In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received a certificate from the Guinness World Records team for the astounding achievement of the "largest Bihu dance and largest dhol drum group". The record was set with a total of 11,304 folk dancers and 2,548 drummers on April 13 at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, creating an unforgettable day for the state.

The event was planned to achieve a new Guinness World Record for the greatest Bihu dance performance in a single location, and the Assam chief minister-led government made no effort to make the Rongali Bihu 2023 an enormous success with this outstanding initiative.

Performers have been rehearsing for the occasion for quite some time, with auditions conducted throughout the state in order to bring in the best of the best for this major event. Over 11,000 Bihuwotis and dhuliyas participated in the big quest to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The historic event had been scheduled for April 14 with Prime Minister Modi in attendance, but it was preponed. Despite the last-minute alteration, the event was a huge success, with thousands of artists, musicians, and spectators gathered to celebrate Assam's diverse culture and display their skills on a global scale.

The Assam Chief Minister had expressed optimism that the event will put Assam and its cultural legacy on the map, and with the Guinness World Record now in hand, it is apparent that the purpose has been met.
