Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled another initiative aimed at eliminating loan sharks i.e illegal money lenders from the state during a statement made on February 23.
He said he was confused by the lending theology that involves taking Rs 20 to 30 in interest for every Rs 100 lent. Sarma further added that money taken in interest will be considered free and does not need to be returned.
Speaking to the assembly during the Land Patta distribution ceremony, Sarma stressed the importance of Mission Basundhara 2.0's focus on strengthening indigenous communities through land rights.

The majority of these individuals have been charging high rates of interest to their clients while operating illegal moneylending rackets.
Several individuals have experienced harassment from these illicit moneylenders, who take big payments at high interest rates before behaving like loan sharks to their victims.
