Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati's Changsari region is 90% complete.
He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the facility on April 14.
The chief minister went to the building site this morning to inspect the progress. Keshab Mahanta, the state health minister, accompanied him.
He took to Twitter and wrote, "It's our great privilege that Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji will soon inaugurate AIIMS Changsari, which will give a huge boost to healthcare in North East. Reviewed status of its various infrastructure facilities including OPD, auditorium, waste disposal & connecting roads."
"The hospital is being built at full speed, and 18 departments, including the Out Patient Department (OPD)," CM Sarma stated while addressing the reporters.
"A total of 150 beds have been installed at the hospital so far, out of the 750 beds," he continued.
The chief minister announced last December that the AIIMS, Guwahati, will be officially launched this year.
He highlighted a series of planned projects to be inaugurated in Guwahati while attending the Namghor Samaroh in North Guwahati.
The chief minister stated, "The AIIMS, Guwahati would be officially launched in 2023. Ten new high schools will be built in the Jalukbari constituency. Changsari and Rangmahal will also have model schools."
