Assam CM announced plans for the collection of soil from every village...
Digital Desk: As preparations for the Independence Day celebrations gain momentum, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a press conference on Sunday announcing the adoption of a special agenda in the week leading up to August 15.
The Assam chief minister unveiled plans for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations while speaking at a press conference at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Sunday.
According to CM Sarma, signboards and placards would be placed at each gaon panchayat in the state. He said, “Special signs will be installed in all gram panchayats on August 8. These signboards will carry the names of freedom fighters, martyred army jawans, and martyred Assam Police personnel. This step will be in line with what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has planned.”
“If the particular village does not have anyone who was killed in the line of duty or any freedom fighters, then the names of those who took part in the freedom struggle will be put up on the signboards,” added the Assam CM.
Meanwhile, between August 9 and August 15, several other events are scheduled. The five pillars of Amrit Kaal, or the Panchaprana Sankalp, are the goal of developing India, the eradication of all traces of the colonial mindset, honor and pride in our ancestry, the development of unity, and a sense of responsibility among citizens. CM Sarma urged the residents of every village in the state to assemble around the signboards and take the Panchaprana Sankalp.
He said, “A video of this will be captured and uploaded to the portal. Between August 9 and August 14, every gram panchayat will have to take measures to ensure the plantation of 75 saplings. 75 saplings will also be planted in areas coming under municipal corporations.”
He explained the plans in more detail by saying, “On August 14, we will observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day across the state. Assam Police will take out a special parade on August 13.”
The people of the state were urged by CM Sarma to raise the flag on August 15 in honor of Independence Day. He advised everyone to honor "Har Ghar Tiranga."
Assam CM announced plans for the collection of soil from every village and gave an overview of the grand scheme of events. The procedure is scheduled to start on August 23 and all of the gathered soil from each village must be dropped off at their respective panchayat.
The soil collected from each village under the relevant panchayat will be mixed there, and the soil will be transported to the respective block office on August 25. The combined soil will be packed in pots and transported to Guwahati's Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra, where a puja will be done on August 26 for all the pots filled with soil, CM Sarma stated.
He went on to say that the soil collection process will be aided by youths serving in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), as well as those who participated in the Assam government's attempt to enter the Bihu dance into the Guinness Book of World Records.
The state government will keep one pot from each location, while the remaining ones will be sent to Delhi. The soil-filled pots are scheduled to arrive in New Delhi between August 27 and August 30. The soil would be used to build a park on Delhi's Kartavya Path, Assam CM said.
Additionally, the soil recovered will be used in the construction of Kanaklata Barua University in Gohpur, Assam. The soil kept by the state government will be used for this purpose.
With this event, the people of the state and the nation will see the end of the celebration under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
