Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister (CM) chaired an 18-hour-long SPs conference that started on January 3, 2022. During the first day conference, detailed presentations were demonstrated by SPs/Addl SPs.
The conference began at 10.30 am on Monday, January 3 and was concluded at 4 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
According to the Chief Minister, the 18 hour-long meeting was intense, with elaborate exhibitions by SPs/additional SPs. CM Sarma even said to have inspected the law and order situation in the state.
The two-day conference of Superintendents of Police (SPs) was held in the oil town of Duliajan on Monday. More than 120 police officers have participated in the conference.
Moreover, the increase in the number of encounters of criminals in the state was further discussed during the detailed conference.
At that time, CM Sarma had ordered police officers to clear all unsettled cases pending since March 2020.

Moreover, CM Sarma additionally paid attention to better coordination among Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, and Joint Director of Health Services of the districts to ensure that post mortem reports are registered within 72 hours of an incident.
Besides, the CM also called for convenient disposal of passport verification information, confirming that the police harass no poor individuals. The chief minister stressed the necessity for routine police patrolling in exposed areas of the districts.
Also, the Dibrugarh District unit of All Assam Students Union's (AASU) has begun a 30-hour long hunger protest in Duliajan.
For the last few days, AASU protests continued at several places against the police. They were protesting against the police clash with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) over a college union election in Dibrugarh.
On Saturday, the student union alleged that police authority had forcefully entered the AASU office in Dibrugarh. They stated, "Police atrocities executed under political pressure will not be tolerated. The people of Assam have strong sentiments towards the Swahid Bhavan. It is sacred for us. The AASU will never give into such domination."
