Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed a group of ministers to investigate how the state government might enhance the continued success of the Assamese film industry in light of the state's recent experience with multiple homegrown box office hits.

Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, CM Sarma said, "We have been noticing for a few days that films made in Assam are gaining popularity and becoming box-office hits."

The state government is seeing a chance that if the film industry is given the right guidance, it might produce positive results in the future, he added.

Minister Kesahab Mahanta, Ranoj Pegu, and Bimal Borah will meet with leaders of the Assamese film industry to explore how the current trend of Assamese cinema may be improved, says Himanta Biswa Sarma.

On the other hand, Assamese actors are also appreciated in the Bollywood film industry.

Following Diganta Borah, Assamese actor Kenny Basumtary portrays a retired commando in Jawan.

In the movie Jawan, he portrays the role of the friend of Shahrukh Khan's character's father.

In Assam, Kenny Basumatary is well known for his roles in comedies like Local Kung Fu and Local Utpaat.

Assamese actor Kenny Basumatary plays Naazir Ahmed in Jawan.

Assamese actor Kenny Basumatary made earlier appearances in Hindi films including Shanghai, Mary Kom, and Raag Desh.
