Around 10.50 lakh new beneficiaries would be enrolled to the Orunodoi 2.0 plan, making it the largest DBT project in Assam history, with a total beneficiary population of 27 lakhs.
Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Orunodoi 2.0 scheme virtually from Assam House in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The chief minister stated during the launch of the scheme that the government's goal is to cover 35 lakh beneficiaries through the Orunodoi scheme. He stated that the previous scheme excluded approximately 2 lakh 75 thousand individuals.
More than 17 lakh women have received Rs. 1,250 each on the 10th of every month under this scheme, which is credited directly to their bank accounts. It has substantially aided families in extreme need, particularly during the multiple waves of COVID-19.

The chief minister further mentioned that the scheme will include disabled and transgender people. People living in nursing homes will also benefit from the DC quota scheme.
He further indicated that all beneficiaries of the Deen Dayal Dibyangan Pension Scheme and the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme would be absorbed into Orunodoi beginning in April 2023.
"Orunodoi, one of the 'foremost beads' among the Ashtadash Mukutar Unnoyonee Maala announced in the State Budget 2020-21, has given hope to lakhs of families. I am confident that Orunodoi 2.0 will aid in the eradication of poverty and the socioeconomic well-being of financially vulnerable households "he addded.
The scheme's entire annual expenditure is Rs. 4,142 crore.
