Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with the bereaved family members of the triple murder case in Golaghat on Wednesday and promised severe punishment to the accused involved in the horrible incident.

CM Sarma expressed his sympathies to the family members of the victims in the Golaghat triple murder case, provided all required assistance, and ensured a thorough investigation into the entire situation.

After meeting the victim's family, CM Sarma spoke to reporters and said, “The incident was different even Ankita, who is the sister of the victim was also beaten up by the accused husband. In connection to the incident, she had written a letter to me. Generally, I receive several letters, but I did not get this one”.

CM Sarma added, “The circumstances were different then as the lockdown was in place due to Corona. Because of this I must have missed the letter or else I would have sent the letter to the SP. I will not be able to exactly say if Nazibur’s brother and mother were also involved in this, but I think that police should go beyond the confession made by Nazibur.”

When questioned if Nazibur's mother and brother were in any way connected to the murder, CM Sarma responded that a thorough inquiry will be launched because it occurs frequently that murderers come out to protect their family or friends.

CM Sarma had hoped that additional information may come to light following a thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, following the directions of Assam CM, DGP GP Singh tweeted, "Sir, instructions shall be complied with. We would ensure a foolproof charge sheet against perpetrator/s and abettors. Lapses in the investigation of earlier cases, including the validity of the marriage certificate adduced in previous investigations shall also be looked at".
