Digital Desk: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stirred up a new controversy on the occasion of Swahid Diwas.

Participating in the Swahid Diwas programme organized by the state government in Baragaon, the chief minister gave a new explanation of clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

It has been many years since former Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma submitted a report on the implementation of Clause 6. This report which would protect the national life of Assam has been neglected in Dispur. Amit Shah had promised to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord in Parliament in letter and spirit. The Assam government had also promised to implement this clause ahead of the elections.

But with time, negligence in implementing Clause 6 started in the hands of the state government. Even the report was not submitted to the Centre. A meeting was held with AASU. The meeting was also resolved. According to Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, seat security should be ensured including providing constitutional safeguards to indigenous people.

And if Clause 6 is implemented without any argument, then the national security of the Assamese will be ensured. The implementation of this clause is also necessary for the questions of endangered national existence.

However, there have been allegations that the Centre removed Clause 5 of the Accord as soon as it brought the CAA. At a time when the Chief Minister today said that Clause 6 of the Assam Accord has come into force.

He says that according to Clause 6, the re-determination of the constituency is therefore the children of indigenous people have got jobs.

Now, after today's statement of the Chief Minister, the question arises - Does the implementation of Clause 6 mean the establishment of a handful of youths of Assam? Is the chief minister's attempt to cover up Clause 6 only with reference to jobs without constitutional safeguards?
