Digital Desk: The new Jorhat flyover, a new loan from the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), and the upcoming semiconductor revolution were among the important issues addressed by the Assam cabinet during its weekly meeting in Guwahati on Friday.
The meeting took place in the secretariat at Lok Sewa Bhawan. Health Minister Keshab Mahanta addressed the media after the meeting and outlined the important choices that were made.
The assembly began by expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for their significant contribution of Rs 27,000 crore toward the establishment of an Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) semiconductor facility at Morigaon.
On a 500-bigha plot of land that previously housed the Jagiroad paper mill, the Tata Group is spearheading the construction of a new semiconductor facility. According to Keshab Mahanta, the initiative is anticipated to generate 15,000 direct jobs in Assam.
Mahanta also disclosed that four more major corporations intend to invest a combined Rs 1612 crores in the state, potentially creating an extra 4,000 jobs. In additional developments, the state of Jorhat is planning to spend Rs 164 crores building a flyover near Baruah Chariali. A direct connection between Baruah Chariali and Jorhat's Bhogdoi Bridge would be made possible by this flyover.
A loan of Rs 4,546 crores and 74 lakhs from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has been approved by the Assam cabinet. Another noteworthy decision made by the cabinet is that it has allowed ADCs, COs, and BDOs to continue doing panchayat-level work up until the Panchayat elections.
