Assam: Congress leader Paban Singh Ghatowar praises Sarbananda Sonowal

In 2004, Sarbananda Sonowal became the first Lok Sabha member from Dibrugarh to defeat Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Digital Desk: Former Congress Union minister and ACMS president Paban Singh Ghatowar said Sarbananda Sonowal is a strong leader and after the election, he will get a better ministry in the centre.

Sarbananda Sonowal was praised by Ghatowar, who was present at the 133rd Annual General Meeting of the Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) on Saturday. Ghatowar further stated that Sonowal will receive an even better ministry in the cabinet following the formation of the government.

According to Paban Singh Ghatowar, he "knows" Sarbananda Sonowal will easily win the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat and secure an even better cabinet ministry.

Ghatowar shared the daas with Sarbananda Sonowal during an event at the Dibrugarh district planters club. He complimented him on his work and stated that as one of the government's senior cabinet ministers, he would have no trouble discussing the tea sector with the prime minister.

In 2004, Sarbananda Sonowal became the first Lok Sabha member from Dibrugarh to defeat Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Aam Adami Party candidate Manoj Dhanowar and Assam Jatiya Parisha (AJP) candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi will compete in a triangular race in Dibrugarh.

Ghatowar said, "Though we are apart politically, socially I share a very cordial relationship with Sarbananda Sonowal ji. We are proud of him that he is holding such an important portfolio in the Central Government. He is one of the senior-most cabinet ministers in the Centre. He can discuss important issues with the honourable Prime Minister about the betterment of tea garden workers."

"Sonowal will be in a very important position in the new government which will again be formed soon. We look forward to him to highlight the problems of the tea sector so that the Centre comes forward and see how the industry can be helped. He has suggested I write a letter to the Modi ji detailing the issues faced by the tea industry. I will definitely do this after the formation of the new government," Ghatowar added.

He further requested Sarbananda Sonowal to have comprehensive deliberations with the representatives of the tea industry to identify the problems.

"I have also requested him to invite the representatives of the industry for a cup of tea in his residence and discuss the issues faced by the tea garden community. Sonowal has kindly agreed and hopefully the meeting will take place soon. We wish him all the best for the democratic examination and look forward that he will address the issues of the tea industry," Ghatowar added.

It is worth noting that on the same day, the Opposition Unity Forum candidate from Dibrugarh Lurinjyoti Gogoi also met Pawan Singh Ghatowar.

Now there is growing discontent and confusion among the opposition voters in the constituency over the role of Ghatowar.
