    Assam: Ferry with 98 passengers stranded on Brahmaputra river in Majuli

    The ferry was stuck because of an issue with its engine.  The boat was traveling from the Majuli side to Kamalabari Ghat When the incident occurred.

    Digital Desk: A ferry carrying 98 passengers found itself stranded in the middle of the Brahmaputra River in Assam's Majuli on Saturday due to an engine malfunction. 
     
    According to information obtained, the ferry known as SB Ghanshyam became stranded in the middle of the river after leaving the Nimati ghat on the Jorhat side.

    The ferry was stuck because of an issue with its engine.  The boat was traveling from the Majuli side to Kamalabari Ghat When the incident occurred.

    At least 98 passengers on board the ferry are reportedly stuck, according to reports. There are three four-wheelers and twenty-five motorcycles on it as well.

    As soon as the incident was reported, a team from the State Disaster Reaction Force (SDRF) arrived at the scene and began rescue operations.
