    Digital Desk: On Tuesday, officials from the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption cell arrested a government employee in Assam's Sonitpur district for allegedly receiving a bribe. Bobby Khan Saikia has been identified as the arrested copyist. She was a copyist at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Sonitpur's Tezpur.

    Bobby was caught red-handed by anti-corruption cell officials while taking a bribe from the complaint for issuing certified copies of land documents.

    The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption tweeted about this, they stated, "Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed Smt. Bobby Khan Saikia, Copyist in the O/O Deputy Commissioner Sonitpur, Tezpur immediately after she accepted demanded bribe from the complainant for issuing a certified copy of land documents.”


    On May 16, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption set up a trap at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Sonitpur. Bobby Khan Saikia was detained shortly after taking the bribe money from the complainant around 2:30 PM. The tainted money was recovered, and the accused was arrested after adequate evidence was presented against her.

    Bobby Khan Saikia has been charged at the ACB Police Station under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as modified in 2018). Legal action is now being taken to guarantee that appropriate action is taken.
