    Digital Desk: Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika on Sunday announced that the BJP-led state government would announce 40,000 new government posts over the next two and a half years. 

    During a public rally in the Tongola constituency, Hazarika announced that the government will announce 40,000 government jobs for the state's youths over the next two and a half years. Hazarika stated that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma kept his promise to provide government jobs to 87,000 state youths. Hazarika went on to say that the government has made certain that all jobs are given to youths without any corruption and bribery.

    In terms of other government programmes, Hazarika stated that 27 lakh families in the state received assistance from the Arunoday scheme. The minister stated that the government will work hard over the next two years to bring in families under the Arunoday initiative. 

    In terms of waiving microfinance loans in the state, Hazarika stated that the government had so far waived microfinance loans worth Rs 2000 crore. 

    The Assam cabinet member also stated that under the Aatmanirbhar programme, around 1 lakh unemployed youths would be granted loans of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakhs to become entrepreneurs and independent. 

    He also mentioned the Ayushman Bharat initiative, which provides people with health insurance up to a limit of Rs 5 lakh. He further stated that the Himanta Biswa Sarms government increased the number of medical colleges in Assam from six during the Congress regime to 12 presently.
     
    In terms of infrastructure development, Hazarika stated that the government is now working on plans to build the much-discussed ring road in Guwahati. He stated here that the proposed ring road would help the residents of Udalguri and the neighbouring region the most. He also stated that the government is focusing on expanding road connections in the BTR region.
