    Assam: Education Minister announces to scrap class 10th board exams from next year, shifts to class 8 and 9 assessment model
    The government's larger efforts to modernise the educational system include the decision to to eliminate the matriculation examination.


    Digital Desk: Assam's Minister of Education, Ranoj Pegu, announced that the state will no longer conduct the traditional matriculation test. According to Ranoj Pegu, class 10 exams will henceforth be based on a model similar to class 8 and 9 exams.
    The prestigious Anandaram Baruah Award, which honours academic distinction, will now be available to students in Classes 5, 8, and 10.

    Assam HSLC examinations will no longer be conducted from the next year, according to a June 2023 announcement made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Starting with the academic year 2024, there won't be a board exam for students in Assam's Class 10. One new Assam educational board will be established by the state government.

    The decision was made by the state education department in compliance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Starting the next year, there won't be a board exam for Assam Class 10. Matric examinations will only be administered at schools. According to the New Education Policy, this is being done. There will soon be a new board as well. However, SEBA employees won't lose their jobs, according to CM Sarma.
