Assam's IPS officer transferred after ‘misconduct’ with woman at Guwahati airport

Digital Desk: In a recent incident at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati, Assam, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took decisive action following allegations of misconduct against one of its senior officers. Binod Kumar Singh, an additional director general (ADG) overseeing the Northeast zone, was transferred back to his parent cadre after a female employee lodged a complaint against him.

The complaint, filed by Utpal Baruah, the chief airport officer at LGBI, detailed instances of inappropriate behavior by Singh towards a female staff member. Allegedly, Singh made unwelcome remarks about her appearance and attempted to hug her against her will. Despite her refusal, Singh persisted, insisting on exchanging contact information and making inappropriate gestures.

Promptly responding to the complaint, Singh issued an apology during a facilitated WhatsApp call with the chief airport officer. Subsequently, the woman withdrew her complaint.

This incident highlights the significance of addressing allegations of misconduct in the workplace swiftly and transparently. The action taken by authorities in transferring Singh underscores a commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment for all employees at LGBI airport.
