The order informs the employees to avoid wearing informal dresses like jeans, t-shirts and leggings at the workplace.
Digital
Desk: Employees can now no longer be informal about office timings or their dress.
Now all the employees of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) Secretariat,
including staff working on a wage, fixed pay or monthly honorarium basis, will
have to follow the dress code and timings for their duty.
The
ALA Principal Secretary asked all the employees to maintain the dress code and
timings on duty in an official order on November 4.
The
order informs the employees to avoid wearing informal dresses like jeans, t-shirts
and leggings at the workplace.
“All
employees should attend office on all working days with formal attire for women
like salwar suit, saree, mekhela chador and formal trouser and shirt for men. Traditional
attire of any community of assam could be worn every Wednesday if employees
choose to do so, the order which was issued at the directive of Speaker
Biswajit Diamary stated.
The
order further stated, “all employees irrespective of rank should wear office
uniform to be prescribed and provided by the Secretariat mandatorily during the
Assembly session and any other formal occasions/ programme or when decided by
the competent authority.
It
also said that "any employee who fails to comply with the above-mentioned
instructions shall be subject to strict action." Furthermore, any employees
who fail to perform the required hours would have their monthly compensation
deducted."
The
instruction also specified the employees' attendance and work schedules.
"All
employees should arrive at the office at 9:30 AM sharp and mandatory indicate
their attendance in the biometric attendance system and log out only after
office hours at the time of leaving the office," it stated. However,
office hours are subject to the exigencies of official work, and employees may
be required to undertake activities outside of official working hours on
occasion, depending on the need and urgency of the work.
