    The counting of votes for 80 municipal boards comprising 977 wards began on Wednesday (March 9) from 8 am.

    Digital Desk: In the latest updates of the Assam municipal election, Bharatiya Janata Party makes a clean sweep in all the ten wards in Dhing at Nagaon district Assam, reports said. The winners are as follows-

    • Hemanta Das won in ward no. 1

    • Mamata Nayak won in ward no. 2

    • Shripa Kuri Das won in ward no. 3

    • Sushanta Debnath won in ward no. 4

    • Silpisikha Gogoi won in ward no. 5

    • Dibakar Nath won in ward no. 6

    • Pinki Saikia won in ward no. 7

    • Matumoni Baruah won in ward no. 8

    • Hriyayananda Bora in ward no. 9

    • Rima Rabi in ward no. 10


    The counting of votes for 80 municipal boards comprising 977 wards began on Wednesday (March 9) from 8 am.

    According to the state election commission, 57 of the 977 wards had already been declared uncontested, and elections were held for the remaining 920.

    Notably, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded the most candidates (825), followed by the Congress with 706 and the BJP’s alliance party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) with 243.

    More than 16 lakh voters, including 8.32 lakh men, 8.41 lakh women, and 17 transgender people, cast their votes on Sunday to decide the fate of 2,532 candidates.
