Digital Desk: In a significant effect, on August 18, peace talks between the Centre, the Assam government, and the ULFA pro-talk side would be conducted in New Delhi.
According to reports, an Ulfa group led by Arabinda Rajkhowa is in the national capital meeting with senior central government officials.
Earlier, ULFA leader Anup Chetia declared, "We expect to work out a solution with the Government of India before the (general) election... It recognises that if it signs the deal with us (ULFA pro-talk side), the Assam crisis will be resolved," he continued.
Reportedly, Several Union Home Ministry officials will meet with the pro-talks ULFA leadership at 11 a.m. today.
Following this, at 3 p.m., Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the meeting.
He also voiced certainty that the talks would be concluded by 2024.
In contrast, an NSCN (IM) delegation would travel to Delhi to meet with the Centre over the Naga political crisis.
According to sources, the delegation will meet with the Centre on August 21. Meanwhile, Thuingaleng Muivah, the leader of the NSCN-IM, will travel to Delhi on August 19.
