    Digital desk: In a significant development, the Assam Police finally succeeded in arresting the two accused of the Dhing rape case that took place on Friday, September 6. 

    The two accused, identified as Golap Uddin, and Faridul Islam, who were absconding for more than two weeks. Out of two, one was arrested from Nagaland, and the other from Morigaon.

    The Nagaon police had launched a search operation right after the Dhing rape case. Since then the two accused were hiding from the eyes of the Assam Police. The two accused are currently being questioned at the office of the Superintendent of Police.

    Notably, the prime accused in the Dhing gang rape case Tafazul Islam was declared dead following an intense two-hour rescue operation. Islam, who had been arrested on August 23 as the third suspect in the heinous crime, attempted to escape police custody early on Saturday morning. While being escorted to the crime scene for further investigation at around 4 am, he jumped into a nearby pond.
