Digital Desk: In a coordinated effort, the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Resource Centre (SMRC) successfully rescued a 13-year-old girl from the clutches of traffickers in Guwahati. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the SMRC collaborated with the Kamrup Metro District Child Labour Task Force, District Administration, Labour Department, and Guwahati Police to execute the operation.

The minor, trafficked from Dhubri, was discovered working as child labour in the Sundarpur area of Guwahati. Sources indicated she was allegedly exploited under the employment of Mr. Inamul Hye, a Congress politician, and Ms. Habiba Sultana, Principal-In-Charge of Pan Bazar Girls High School.

The rescue operation not only aimed to safeguard the victim but also to apprehend those responsible for her exploitation. This concerted effort highlights the commitment of law enforcement and government agencies to combat child trafficking and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.

Efforts like these underscore the importance of community vigilance and prompt action in safeguarding children's rights and ensuring their safety from illicit practices such as trafficking and child labour. The rescued girl has been provided with necessary support and care, while investigations continue into the circumstances of her exploitation.
