    Assam: Two brothers washed away in Brahmaputra while offering Pind Daan

    The incident occurred when the two brothers were giving pind daan to their mother, who had passed away six months earlier.

    Digital Desk: In a tragic occurrence that happened on Wednesday morning in the Mohanaghat area of Dibrugarh, two brothers were washed away in the Brahmaputra River while doing pind daan, or paying respects to a departed soul.

    When the event occurred, the two brothers were giving pind daan to their mother, who had passed away six months earlier.

    Diganta and Ananta Kakoti, who live in the Amolapatty neighbourhood of Dibrugarh, have been identified as the two brothers.

    As to the reports, Diganta fell into the river while attempting to present the pind. His younger brother then jumped into the river to save his older brother, and both of them went missing from the site.

    The incident in the Mohanaghat region of Dibrugarh was reported around 8.45 am.

    To find the brothers, SDRF started a rescue effort in the meantime.

    Ananta Kakoti was single, but Diganta Kakoti was married and had two daughters.

    "A little girl who accompanied them described the entire affair. She is the terrible incident's eyewitness," a police officer stated.
