Digital Desk: An army jawan from the Dima Hasao area of Assam died in a tragic incident at an army base in Uttar Pradesh after being shot dead by his colleague.

At the 606 EME Army Camp under the Bareilly police station in Uttar Pradesh, Havildar Komal Jaishi was shot and killed by his colleague Rajesh Ratna, who hails from Andhra Pradesh.

The victim's body was brought back to his village on Monday, where his last rites were carried out with full honors.

According to Rahul Bhatti, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Uttar Pradesh, the incident took place on February 23 at the army camp under the Bareilly police station when Rajesh Ratna shot dead Jaishi.

After receiving this information, an inquiry was launched at the Uttar Pradesh police station's police camp, and Rajesh Ratna, the culprit, was taken into custody after viewing the CCTV footage.

Komal Jaishi's brother claimed that although he had gone to sign some paperwork before his brother's scheduled retirement on March 31st, he got into a dispute with Rajesh Ratna, the grand commander of the Army camp in Uttar Pradesh.

He claimed that to hide the occurrence, the Army's 606 EME Regiment reported that Komal Jaishi had suffered a stroke.

However, when the police arrived on the scene and saw the CCTV footage, they detained Army jawan Rajesh Ratna. Meanwhile, the victim's family has filed a case at the Bareilly police station in this respect.

The Assam Gorkha Sammelan and the Gorkha Students' Organization, meanwhile, vehemently denounced the tragedy, demanding a harsh penalty for the army jawan who killed Havildar Komal Jaishi and asked for a one-time financial help.
