    Digital desk: The flood situation remains grim in most of the districts of Assam as the water level of the Brahmaputra River continued to rise on Monday.

    Additionally, the flow of all of the state's major rivers is currently above the danger level. In Dhubri and Tezpur, the Brahmaputra is flowing, while at Golakganj, the Beki, Buridihing and Sankosh rivers are flowing above the danger level.

    Prior to this, Chirang and Bongaigaon districts experienced floods as a result of the Brahmaputra river's water level rising due to incessant rainfall.

    An alert has been issued for downstream districts of Assam after neighboring Bhutan began releasing excess water from its Kurichu dam on Friday.

    According to officials, 17 districts are currently being affected by floods impacting nearly 67,000 people.

    As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Biswanath district is one of the worst affected districts in Assam, where over 32,400 people have been affected so far.

    According to ASDMA, 22,417 people have been impacted in the Gohpur revenue circle areas and approximately 10,000 in the Halem revenue circle areas.

    A total area of 858 hectares of cropland was submerged along with 47 communities in the Biswanath Sub-Division,  officials stated.

    The state's floods affected 1.08 lakh people residing in 385 villages that were part of 31 revenue circles which were located in 15 districts and two sub-divisions,  ASDMA reported.

    Reportedly, 4168.40 hectares of cropland were submerged by the floodwaters. The government has established 22 relief camps and 71 relief distribution facilities in the flood-affected districts where 4,275 people are currently taking shelter.

    According to the authorities, a total of 19,379 people are thought to have been impacted in the Golaghat district, compared to 13,00 in Dhemaji, 12,00 in Majuli, 12,855 in Dibrugarh, 6218 in Chirang, 3336 in Dhubri and 31,35 in Sivasagar.

    More than 72,300 domestic animals and birds have been impacted by the flood.

    Meanwhile, rescue efforts are being carried out in the flood-affected areas by teams from the SDRF, NDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, and local administration.
