Digital desk: TAssam government is considering using the Meitei script in the state's educational institutions.This would make it possible for motivated students to study Manipuri in Meitei/Mayek script and read Manipuri literature. It would also allow applicants from Assam to apply for jobs in Manipur when proficiency in Meitei/Mayek is required.
The choice was made on March 10 at the state government's cabinet meeting. Among the other important choices made at the cabinet meeting, the government has decided to set aside Rs.131 crore to beautify Sivasagar's historic Rang Ghar. The government has suggested a site in Rupohi Pathar, on the northwest side of Rang Ghar, on an area of land measuring 83 bighas 2 Katha, as part of the beautification project.
The government resolved to give a variety of incentives to TATA's semiconductor factory during the cabinet meeting, among other important choices. The decision was taken after the Indian government's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology approved the semi-conductor plant in Assam. The cabinet also gave the Department of Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises permission to make all payments by the units' policy eligibility.
The state government has also authorized Rs.380.66 crore for the development of an open stadium at Amingaon Sports Complex, Kamrup, which is a significant boost to the sports industry.
In addition to 20 seats for foreign coaches, 20 seats for national coaches, and 96 seats for boys and girls in the players' hostel, the stadium will have a cutting-edge cricket stadium, seating 20,000 spectators. The government will make changes to Rules 15 and 19 of the Assam State Prosecution Service Rules, 2023 as part of approving the draft Assam State Prosecution Service (Amendment) Rules, 2024.
This would guarantee the proficiency-cum skill test is conducted smoothly and effectively to select applicants through direct recruitment for various post categories. Due to the large volume of applications received for direct recruitment in various post categories, the proposed clearance will enable several Boards to conduct proficiency-cum-skill examinations efficiently.
