Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday (May 23) that the state government plans to begin a massive recruitment drive to fulfill its promise of providing 1 lakh jobs to the youth of the state. Addressing the media at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, CM Sarma disclosed the government's plan to publish advertisements for 22,776 posts in various departments, thereby eliminating overlapping and waiting lists.

The Assam Government aims to tackle the long-standing issue of vacancies in the state's public sector with the goal of creating more job opportunities and ensuring the effective functioning of the government machinery. The government hopes to expedite the recruiting process and narrow the gap between demand and availability of skilled employees by posting advertising for 22,776 posts.

The Assam State Electricity Board will be the first to advertise the vacancies with 2,500 positions available. This move will strengthen the workforce and improve the board's ability to handle the growing demands of the state's electricity sector. In addition, the Agriculture Department will advertise for 2,500 extension assistant positions, while the Police Department will advertise for 2,000 positions, further strengthening law enforcement efforts.

The Panchayat and Gramin Department will contribute to this endeavour by posting 1,000 job openings and encouraging rural development and governance.

The education industry is not left out of this massive recruitment drive. The departments of elementary, secondary, and higher education will together advertise for 10,219 positions, supporting Assam's educational expansion and quality.

CM Sarma emphasized the government's intention to eliminate overlaps and waiting lists through this recruitment procedure. The government wants to obtain a precise count of 1 lakh positions by filling about 1 lakh 15 thousand vacancies, guaranteeing efficiency and transparency in the recruitment process.
