Digital Desk: In a significant development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has declared the establishment of eight new Adarsha Vidyalayas across various districts. This move aligns with the ongoing governmental efforts to enhance education quality and accessibility in the state.

Adarsha Vidyalayas, integral to the Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA), Assam, has been operational since January 1, 2015, focusing on providing exemplary education, particularly in rural areas.

The recent announcement signals a revolutionary initiative to expand these model schools, fortifying educational infrastructure within the state.

Emphasizing the commitment to education, Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated an Adarsha Vidyalaya in North Guwahati on June 20, 2023. Situated at Rangmahal on the North Bank of the Brahmaputra, this school shares its campus with the Rangmahal Higher Secondary School. The dual inauguration aims to foster healthy competition among students, contributing to human resource development in the region.

Sarma ensures that these Adarsha Vidyalayas will be well-equipped with smart classrooms, science and computer laboratories, and libraries. The inclusion of 'Project Child' underscores the emphasis on mental and physical development in students. The government envisions establishing CBSE-affiliated Adarsha Vidyalayas in all 126 Assembly Constituencies, with 55 already completed and 71 under construction.

Additionally, the Assam government plans to revamp 2000 vernacular medium schools across the state, allocating Rs. 10 crores each. This comprehensive reform aims to provide students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to study English in government schools.

These educational initiatives coincide with the Chief Minister's August 25, 2023, announcement regarding the re-creation of four newly merged districts, bringing Assam's total districts back to 35.

The expansion of Adarsha Vidyalayas, coupled with district reorganization, signifies a broader strategy to decentralize and enhance educational services throughout the state, showcasing the government's dedicated approach to education reform.
