Digital Desk: After setting three global records, the Assam government plans to set nine more in September of this year.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that his government is on the verge of setting nine different Guinness World Records during the mega plantation drive, adding that four new world records will be set this month while five old world records will be broken.
The chief minister said that the Amrit Brikshya Andolan programme will take place from September 9 to September 17.
Despite certain categories will be new, the state government will make efforts to update current records in others.
Check here the different Guinness World Record that would be set:
- The largest sapling line/spiral will be made on 9 September at the Veterinary Ground in Guwahati.
- The majority of pledges are to plant and protect trees. So far, 47,34,465 people have signed up for the Amritv Brikshya Andolan.
- On September 11, the largest online wildlife conservation class will take place.
- On September 14, a crew will plant the most trees in Udalguri in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the state administration is on the verge of breaking the following records:
- The most seedlings were delivered in one day at one location on September 10 at the Veterinary Ground in Guwahati. This would break the previous state record of 76,824 seedlings provided by Uttar Pradesh.
- On September 15, most trees were planted in one hour in Dibrugarh. This would break Turkey's record of 3,03,150 seedlings planted in one hour.
- On September 16, the largest planted tree mosaic in Digboi broke Turkey's record with 21825.74 square metres.
- The largest photo album of individuals planting trees on September 17 broke Turkey's record. Individuals who have enrolled will post photos of themselves planting trees on the webpage.
- On September 17, a crew of 100 people will plant the majority of the trees at Sivasagar in an hour. This will break Bhutan's previous record of 49,672 seedlings planted.
CM Himanta further stated that Guinness World Records representatives have already arrived in Assam.
