Assam police seize illegal drugs in different parts of Tinsukia region

Tinsukia: Assam police conducted an operation against illegal drugs in various places of Margherita and Jagun of Tinsukia district. This operation turned out to be a successful drive into ending illicit drugs sales and consumption.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Police and staff from SB HQRs, the operation took place on Monday. Hemanto KR Boro, APS, and his party arrested the accused.

Other personnel associated with the operation include Sub-Instructor (SI) Chitraranjan Buragohain and his team of Tinsukia PS. The team also comprised Sub-Inspector Bikramjit Pegu, SI Jitumoni Baishya and his team of Makum police station. 

The team was successful in seizing a large number of illegal drugs from the possession of the accused. As per sources, police recovered approx 45 grams of heroin from Diamond Baruah, S/O Lt. Vijendra Baruah of Makum Pather, Margherita PS, Tinsukia District.

Additionally, police recovered around 216 grams of heroin from Bahadur Chetry, S/O Lt. Hari Bahadur Chetry of Kotha Sema, Jagun, Lekhapani PS, Tinsukia District. Along with the drugs, the team also recovered four lakhs rupees from the possession of Chetry.

Also, 11 grams of heroin were recovered from Mridul Dey @ Bhai Chetia of Hunali Jayanti Deori Gaon, Jagun, Lekhapani PS, Tinsukia District.

Apart from these illegal drugs, police also recovered 03 strips of illegal drugs (fita kani) from Dipankar Mann, S/o Lt. Yuvraj Mann of Makum Pather, Margherita PS, Tinsukia district.

The Assam police have been vandalising the illegal drugs trade and consumption for the last few months. This operation and the seize of illegal drugs add to the list of successful operations against drugs.
