    Assam records 541 road accidents during Durga Puja

    Guwahati: Assam recorded 541 road accidents during the Durga Puja celebrations. Despite all the awareness campaigns launched by State Transport Department and traffic police, the number was not restricted.





    According to the official reports of GVK EMRI (Emergency Management and Research Institute), the 108 Mritujnay Emergency Services served 541 road traffic misfortune incidents in the five days of the Durga Puja celebrations.





    Among the 108 emergency services, 80 cases were reported on October 11, 2021. Around 94 cases were reported on October 12 and 13, 2021. Also, around 137 cases were reported on October 14 and 110 on October 15, 2021.

    Especially in Kamrup Metro, road accidents cases were at the highest peak. In the last five days, 49 cases of road accidents were reported in Guwahati.





    Secondly, Golaghat was listed among the second-highest position in Assam, concerning a maximum number of road accidents. However, the Dima Hasao district recorded only two cases.





    Several other minor road accident cases were not recorded in Assam during the festive season of Durga Puja.
