Digital Desk: BJP's Minor leader was found dead in a river of Karimganj. Police officials disclosed the info on Friday stating, that, the BJP leader Abdul Sattar aged 47 identified as the deceased was also a previous member of the District Panchayat.
The deceased's family relatives claim that Sattar was missing on October 23. Superintendent of Police for Karimganj, Partha Pratim Das, announced on Friday that a murder case had been filed by the police in response to a complaint from the victim's relatives.
'The deceased BJP leader had injury marks on numerous parts of his body, which is enough to demonstrate that he was battered a lot,' said SP Partha Pratim Das.
He stated that in response to the family members' complaint, "We have filed a case under murder and other counts. Das stated that he has identified some of the accused, but that it would be inappropriate to divulge their names at this time for the inquiry."
Sattar, according to family members, got many phone calls around 9 p.m. on October 23. He informed his family that he had to travel to the residence of the local MLA for an important meeting. "He did not return at night, and when we contacted him at 12.30, his phone was switched off," a family member added.
"We told the police and other party leaders about the situation the following day" they further stated.
Regarding the incident, Sattatr's son made major revelations in front of the media as reported, he told media that "a group of Congress politicians threatened to behead him during a brawl around four months ago. 'A local Congress official named Surman Ali from our area declared that whoever murders my father (Sattar), will pay him a great sum, on the same day, his buddies Mukabbir Ali and Sattar Ali stated that they would cut off my father's head, cook it, and eat it," Sattar's son said.
In the FIR filed at Patharkandi police station on Friday, he named these three people, including a woman. Locals saw the body on Friday morning, according to police. Following that, the body was transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for a postmortem examination.
Sattar's family said that his body was discovered inside a sack they also stated that "Sattar's Hands and legs were shackled with large stones and thrown into the river," he explained. The local police verified that "his hands and legs were tied, but stated that they would not be allowed to reveal anything about the situation until the inquiry was completed."
