    Assam: Gunotsav 2022 to access 42,51,524 students from 46,251 schools
    Digital Desk: The upcoming Gunotsav 2022, which will begin in between April 20 and May 12 in three phases, will assess 42,51,524 students from 46,251 schools across the state, reports said.

    These 46,251 schools would include 45,825 Government/provincialized elementary schools, high schools, and upper secondary schools. Apart from that, the Gunotsav will cover 4,260 schools administered by different tea garden managements, a Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) official announced.

    Out of 42,51,524 students, 5,86,730 students were from Class I; 5,33,019 students from Class II; 5,15,437 students from Class III; 5,01,480 students from Class IV; 5,06,539 students from Class V; 4,30,627 students from Class VI; 4,17,442 students from Class VII; 3,93,863 students from Class VIII; and 3,66,387 students from Class IX.

    As per the official, the Students from Class I through Class IX will be evaluated academically. Since the new academic session will begin in April, students will be given exam papers corresponding to a lower class. As a result, freshly promoted Class-II students will be given exam papers intended for Class-I, and so on for the other Classes. Additionally, students in Class V and Class VIII in the present academic session of 2021-2022 who will be in Class VI and Class IX in the 2022-2023 academic session in different schools will be required to appear for the Gunotsav evaluation in their original schools.

    Reportedly, Baksa, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup (Metro), Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, and West Karbi Anglong districts will be covered in the first phase, which will take place on April 20, April 21, and April 22.

    On the other hand, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Nagaon, and Nalbari districts will be covered in the second phase, which will take place on April 25, April 26, and April 27.

    Gunotsav's third phase will take place in Barpeta, Cachar, Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Morigaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia, and Udalguri on May 10, 11, and 12.

    Notably, on January 23, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a review meeting of the Education Department. Apart from setting a date for Gunotsav 2022, the committee resolved that Grade-I and Grade-II government personnel and college teachers and post-graduate teachers would serve as external evaluators for the event. Furthermore, retired Grade I and Grade II officers, retired teachers, and Central Government personnel may be delegated as external evaluators.
