Assam: Yet another truck accident on Kaliabhomora bridge within a week

Sonitpur: Locals were startled after a loud screeching sound of a truck spread sensation near Kaliabhomora bridge in Sonitpur district yesterday night.

Within a space of a week, another truck broke through the railings on the Kaliabhomora bridge, reportedly on Thursday night. After the collision, the truck remained suspended at the edge of the bridge.

Unlike the November 22 incident, where another truck similarly broke through the railings and fell into the Brahmaputra river, only to be found a day later, in this case, the truck managed to remain suspended at the edge. The incident reportedly happened at around 1-2 am, late on Thursday night.

As per reports, the helper of the truck identified as Dilip Tassa is said to be missing. It is speculated that he might jumped into the river after the collision. The steering of the truck was reportedly found to be jammed due to which it might have collided with a freight-carrying vehicle after which it rammed into the railings and remained suspended right at the edge of the bridge.

Locals have reported two almost identical accidents at the same location, raising questions on the safety of driving at the bridge.
