Speaker Daimary responded to the public uproar against the BJP-led government's repeated increases in electricity rates by advising people struggling to pay their bills to choose an alternative by sitting under trees rather than turning on fans.
The
Assam government's decision to purchase electricity from private companies and their subsequent decision to increase electricity bills have resulted in huge outragein the state. Daimary recognised the price increases but emphasised that the administration had no control over the situation. He stated that if people were having trouble paying their electricity bills, they ought to stop using electric fans and instead choose the natural shade and comfort that trees provide.

There is also AC in the rooms of the police and security guards in charge of security at the residence. So, the heat wave has not touched Daimary. Therefore, he cannot feel the pain of the common people.
